A successful student is one who is willing to work on a daily basis with his parent(s) in an educational setting. The student should work well in both an independent learning situation and a one-on-one learning situation with the parent/guardian. The student will speak to the mentor on a regular basis. This will give the student the opportunity to speak with an instructor other than the parent. The mentor will strive to develop a personal relationship with the student to provide feedback to the family and to be another positive role model for the student. Parents will be the primary instructor in this environment, supported by a staff of people at the CPDLF, including the grade level PA certified mentor, the facilitator, the principal and the director. Parents will have weekly contact with the assigned mentor. Your mentor will function as a support system to the parent and student. The mentor is a skilled teacher who can help with lesson planning, course content, subject specific reinforcement and enrichment. Students will be required to complete and submit all required tests and assessments If determined necessary by the parent and mentor, students will be required to complete supplemental material to the curriculum. |
