Setting Goals for Success at CPDLF
At CPDLF, learners work at their own pace, supported by a caring team of teachers, learning guides, and family coaches. One key to success in our cyber school environment is setting daily, achievable goals.
Why Goal Setting Matters
Large tasks can feel overwhelming, especially online. That's why we encourage all learners to break things down into manageable parts. A goal like "Finish one science activity and message my teacher if I'm stuck" is much more effective than "Catch up on school."
We also teach our learners how to set S.M.A.R.T. goals:
- Specific – What exactly do I want to achieve?
- Measurable – How will I know if I've done it?
- Achievable – Is it realistic?
- Relevant – Does it help me make progress?
- Time-bound – When will I finish?
Each course at CPDLF includes a weekly planner to help learners set and track their goals. These tools help families stay organized and ensure nothing is missed.
A Culture of Reflection and Growth
We want our learners to reflect at the end of each day or week, asking:
- What did I accomplish?
- What do I still need to finish?
- What will I make my next goal?
This ongoing reflection builds confidence and independence, skills that prepare learners for life beyond school.
Whether you're already part of our CPDLF community or considering enrollment, know that goal-setting is at the heart of how we help learners succeed, one step at a time.
