CPDLF's "Cameras On" Policy

At CPDLF, we are committed to providing a high-quality, engaging, and supportive learning environment for all of our students. One of the most important ways we can ensure students are actively participating in their education is through the use of cameras during live virtual sessions.

We kindly ask that you encourage your child to keep their camera on during instructional time. Here’s why it matters:

  1. Student Engagement: When students have their cameras on, teachers can better connect with them, read nonverbal cues, and provide more responsive instruction. It allows for richer discussions, stronger relationships, and a true sense of classroom community—even in a virtual setting.

  2. Wellness and Accountability: In accordance with the CPDLF Wellness Policy and guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, student wellness includes social-emotional connections, consistent engagement, and visibility in the learning environment. Regular visual check-ins allow our staff to monitor student well-being and ensure they are safe, supported, and present.

  3. State Requirements: The Pennsylvania Department of Education has outlined expectations for student attendance, participation, and instructional time in virtual settings. Being visually present on camera is a key indicator of active participation and helps our school meet compliance standards.

We understand that there may be occasional circumstances where camera use is not possible. If your child has a specific need or concern related to using their camera, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us so we can work together on a solution that supports your child’s success.

Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education. Your continued support helps us create a vibrant, connected, and effective cyber learning experience.
