From Our Principal

Hello CPDLF Families—and those considering joining our community!

As we begin a new school year, I want to share one of the most powerful habits we teach our learners at CPDLF: don't be afraid to ask for help.

At CPDLF, you are never alone on your learning journey. In fact, one of the biggest advantages of our cyber learning environment is that there are so many supports available. But here's the secret: you have to use them!

Whether you're already enrolled or thinking about enrolling with us, it's important to know that support is built into everything we do.

At CPDLF, we surround our learners with a team of caring adults and helpful tools, and we encourage every learner to speak up and use them! Using your resources and reaching out for help is one of the smartest, strongest things you can do.

Here's how to make the most of your support system:

Check-in with your Learning Guide

Your Learning Guide is your go-to support person. Have a question about where to find an assignment, how to stay organized, or just need help staying motivated? They're here for you! Be sure to talk to your Learning Guide daily at your morning meeting; don't wait until you feel overwhelmed.

Show up for your Academic Check-Ins

These check-ins with your teachers are important! They're an opportunity for you to ask questions, receive direct support, and make sure you are on track. Attending these meetings consistently helps your teacher know how to best support your learning.

Family Check-Ins Matter

Each month, you and your Learning Coach (the adult at home who supports your learning) will meet with your Learning Guide for a Family Check-In. These meetings are a great time to talk about what's going well, what's feeling hard, and what extra help you might need. It's a team effort, and these check-ins keep everyone connected and working together.

Use Google Chat and Email

Don't hesitate to message your teacher! If you're unsure about an assignment, can't find something, or need a concept explained differently, send a message. Teachers want to help you succeed, and they can respond quickly when you reach out directly.

Attend Live Lessons

Live lessons are a great chance to talk with your teachers and fellow learners in your class. If you're confused about something, chances are someone else is too! Ask questions, participate, and take advantage of the opportunity to learn in real-time.

Join Small Group Instruction

Sometimes, you need more personalized help, and that's where small group instruction comes in. These are targeted learning times where teachers can really focus on what you need. If you're invited, make it a priority to attend. If you think it would help, ask to be included!

At CPDLF, we believe asking for help is a sign of strength, maturity, and curiosity. It shows that you're engaged in your own learning and committed to growing. So, let's make this school year the best one yet by using our voices, our tools, and our team.

You've got this, and we've got you.

Our Cameras On Policy

At CPDLF, we are committed to providing a high-quality, engaging, and supportive learning environment for all of our students. One of the most important ways we can ensure students are actively participating in their education is through the use of cameras during live virtual sessions.

We kindly ask that you encourage your child to keep their camera on during instructional time. Here’s why it matters:

  1. Student Engagement: When students have their cameras on, teachers can better connect with them, read nonverbal cues, and provide more responsive instruction. It allows for richer discussions, stronger relationships, and a true sense of classroom community—even in a virtual setting.

  2. Wellness and Accountability: In accordance with the CPDLF Wellness Policy and guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, student wellness includes social-emotional connections, consistent engagement, and visibility in the learning environment. Regular visual check-ins allow our staff to monitor student well-being and ensure they are safe, supported, and present.

  3. State Requirements: The Pennsylvania Department of Education has outlined expectations for student attendance, participation, and instructional time in virtual settings. Being visually present on camera is a key indicator of active participation and helps our school meet compliance standards.

We understand that there may be occasional circumstances where camera use is not possible. If your child has a specific need or concern related to using their camera, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us so we can work together on a solution that supports your child’s success.

Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education. Your continued support helps us create a vibrant, connected, and effective cyber learning experience.
